Ghadi Khoury
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 21: Lebanese Ambassador to Kuwait Ghadi Khoury affirmed that the genuine love and humanitarian concern shown by His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, toward Lebanon and its people left a lasting impression on him. He highlighted that His Highness’s reception of him and his family reflected high moral and humanitarian values, making him feel as though his own father were present. Speaking to the press while receiving well-wishers at the Lebanese Embassy recently, in the presence of Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Al-Duaij, Ambassador Khoury explained that these sentiments were not directed at him personally, but they reflect Kuwait’s steadfast regard for Lebanon.
The affection he experienced was directed towards Lebanon as a nation and its people, a sentiment he felt from the moment he arrived in Kuwait, both from the leadership and the Kuwaiti people. The Lebanese ambassador outlined three main priorities for his diplomatic mission, foremost of which is working to overcome any past differences between Lebanon and some Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. He stressed that this does not apply to Kuwait, which has consistently supported Lebanon, treated it with brotherly affection and concern, and offered guidance in the nation’s best interests.
Ambassador Khoury explained that his second priority is to elevate the relationship between the two countries from its current friendly and fraternal framework to a firmly established institutional partnership based on clear and stable foundations. This aims to develop future cooperation and ensure its sustainability in various fields. His third and most important priority is to focus on economic, social, and developmental issues, setting aside political tensions. His mission in Kuwait will be primarily economic and social, aiming to open new avenues for cooperation and investment. On attracting investments, Ambassador Khoury highlighted that Lebanon is currently on the right path in terms of security and reform, which lays a solid foundation for a positive future
