KUWAIT CITY, Feb 16: The Kuwaiti Volleyball League returns to action today after a 37-day suspension caused by the participation of Kuwait Club and Burgan in the fourth West Asia Clubs Volleyball Championship, recently hosted by Kuwait Club. The hosts secured third place, while Qatar’s Al-Rayyan lifted the title.
Competition restarts with two fixtures at the Volleyball Association Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. Yarmouk faces Qadsia at 5:00 pm, followed by Burgan taking on Al-Sulaibikhat at 7:00 pm.
Kuwait Club leads the standings with 20 points. Qadsia sits second on 16 points, ahead of Al-Arabi (15) and Kazma (14). Al-Sulaibikhat has 11 points, while Burgan and Al-Shabab are tied on 10 points, with Burgan ahead on set difference. Yarmouk has three points, while Al-Nasr and Al-Sahel are yet to register a point.
Off the court, Qadsia strengthened its squad by signing Pakistani professional Murad Jehan for the remainder of the season alongside Brazilian player Caio. The team also welcomed back star Nasser Dashti after a four-month absence due to family reasons.
Meanwhile, the Ordinary General Assembly of the Kuwait Volleyball Association will convene at 6:00 pm today at the association’s headquarters to fill two vacant board positions — Secretary-General and Board Member — for the 2024–2027 term.
Talal Al-Nimsh of Kazma has applied for the Secretary-General post, while Ziyad Al-Enezi of Al-Nasr has applied for Board Member. With no other candidates in the race, both are set to win by acclamation.
