LOS ANGELES, Nov 2, (Agencies): Taylor Tomlinson is set to shake up the late-night television landscape. In a surprise announcement made on a Wednesday evening during The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the 29-year-old comedian revealed that she will be taking the helm of CBS’ After Midnight.

Tomlinson’s debut as the host of After Midnight is scheduled for early 2024 and the show will be featured in the coveted 12:37 am ET/PT time slot, previously occupied by The Late Late Show with James Corden. The move marks a significant shift in late-night programming for CBS.

After Midnight draws its inspiration from Comedy Central’s popular @midnight, which once followed in the footsteps of iconic shows like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. It’s worth noting that Stephen Colbert himself serves as an executive producer on this revival, alongside CBS Studios, Funny or Die, and Spartina Industries.

Taylor Tomlinson’s journey into the late-night spotlight began when Stephen Colbert informed his audience about the upcoming addition to the CBS lineup. Tomlinson, with her quick wit and comedic prowess, playfully offered her hosting services. Their banter led to an impromptu invitation to join Colbert on stage.

Seated at Colbert’s desk, Tomlinson couldn’t contain her enthusiasm for her new role. She quipped, “I’ve never really had a proper job. I mean, I’ve been doing stand-up since I was 16, which doesn’t feel like a job.” Her humor and humility charmed the audience.

Continuing her lighthearted tone, she added, “So, like, this has been a really fun couple of months. I was on TikTok searching for tips on how to nail a job interview – because, you know, TikTok is like Google for the younger generation. How do you impress your potential boss?”

Colbert, with a smile, responded, “As it turns out, the best part of having one of these jobs is being able to find and hire good people.” With that, the torch was passed, and Taylor Tomlinson was officially welcomed into the late-night television fraternity.
