NEW DELHI, Nov 15: Kuwait’s Ambassador to India, Meshal Al-Shamali, said Friday that Kuwait’s contributions to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reflect the country’s commitment to easing the suffering of refugees and providing them with a dignified life.
Speaking during a meeting with Areti Sianni, Head of the UNHCR Mission in India and the Maldives, Al-Shamali highlighted the longstanding partnership between Kuwait and the UN agency, describing Kuwaiti support as a key pillar for the UNHCR’s ongoing operations worldwide.
Sianni welcomed Kuwait’s humanitarian efforts, praising its financial contributions and continued support, which enable the UNHCR and other organizations to fully carry out their missions. She also reviewed the agency’s activities in India, including assistance and protection provided to refugees and asylum seekers from various countries.
The meeting, held in New Delhi, underscored the sustained cooperation between Kuwait and the UNHCR in addressing global refugee needs.
