KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20: Relief from Kuwait's scorching summer is just around the corner, as temperatures are expected to begin falling from August 24, coinciding with the arrival of the "Suhail" season, according to the Al-Ujairi Scientific Center.

In a press statement, the center said Kuwait will witness tangible changes in temperatures with the rising of Suhail, a season that lasts 52 days and ends on October 14. The shift comes as the current "Kulaibin" season enters its final days, with the country anticipating rainfall whenever humidity levels rise.

The center predicted that temperatures will drop below 50°C during the Suhail season, accompanied by milder weather at night, although humidity is expected to remain high, particularly in coastal areas.

The center explained that the most prominent signs of Suhail's arrival include the cooling of the weather and the breaking of the heat, along with southeast winds that ease the hot desert winds, making the atmosphere more humid as the earth calms and its temperature decreases. Other indicators include the appearance of leafy plants, the lengthening of shade, and the emergence of morning dew, while both water and air gradually cool.

The center further noted that the sun will begin leaning toward the south after being almost vertical during the summer, leading to shorter days and longer nights.

It added that the Suhail star can be seen in Kuwait's skies beginning September 4, 2026 , based on sightings documented at dawn during this period every year by a group of Kuwaiti astronomers.
