Winners of the 1st Kuwait 2020 Open Championship for Professional Arab Ice Hockey Clubs, Kuwait’s Stars celebrate with the championship trophy. (KUNA)

Kuwait’s Stars ice hockey team were declared winners of the 1st Kuwait 2020 Open Championship for Professional Arab Ice Hockey Clubs after they defeated the UAE’s team “Theebs” in the final match 6-4.

According to a press release, Kuwait Winter Games Club organized the championship on Feb 2-8 with the participation of six Arab clubs.

Director General of the Public Authority for Sports Dr Hamoud Fuleiteh told reporters that this championship, which was held in conjunction with the opening of the new Kuwait Winter Games Club Complex, has succeeded in all levels.

He praised the efforts exerted by Kuwait Winter Games Club that culminated in organizing the championship in a distinctive manner.

Dr Fuleiteh affirmed that the championship was marked by strong competition and a remarkable turnout of fans in light of the participation of the best Arab clubs in this sport. He congratulated the teams that won the top three places in the championship

In this regard, the third place went to Lebanese team “Cedar” followed by Egypt’s “Pharaohs” team in fourth place, Bahrain I team in fifth place, and Saudi Arabia’s “Jeddah Ice Sport” team in sixth.
