The surge in fresh supplies brings down the prices of shrimps in Kuwait.

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 11: The Deputy Director of the Fisheries Sector at the Public Authority for Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, Marzouq Al-Azmi, announced that the fish market received 376 baskets of "Umm Na’ira" shrimp yesterday, with prices ranging from 40 to 55 dinars per basket. Additionally, 188 baskets of "Shahamiya" shrimp were delivered to the market, with prices ranging from 25 to 30 dinars per basket.

In a statement to Al-Rai, Al-Azmi noted that the price of a kilogram of shrimp has dropped to two dinars this week, down from 3.5 dinars last week. He attributed the expected increase in shrimp quantities in the coming days to the Public Authority for Agriculture's efforts in issuing necessary licenses, monitoring territorial waters, and apprehending violators, all aimed at preserving fish stocks. These efforts yield results following the opening of shrimp fishing on August 1.
