KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah on Tuesday conducted an inspection tour of the new Kuwait International Airport Terminal 2 (T2) project, reaffirming the government’s commitment to advancing one of the nation’s largest and most strategic development ventures.
The visit took place on the sidelines of the weekly Cabinet meeting, held at the terminal site. His Highness the Prime Minister, accompanied by several ministers, toured various sections of the T2 project and was briefed by Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Mohammed Al-Mashaan, Chairman of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Hamoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and project officials on the progress of construction and implementation stages.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmad underlined that the T2 project represents a key milestone in Kuwait’s development vision and a transformative step in the nation’s aviation and transport infrastructure. He stressed the importance of continued cooperation among all government bodies with the Ministry of Public Works to address challenges, accelerate progress, and ensure completion according to the established timeline.
The Prime Minister expressed appreciation to Dr. Al-Mashaan, Sheikh Hamoud, and all participating entities — including the Ministries of Interior and Finance, the State Audit Bureau, the Fatwa and Legislation Department, and the Central Agency for Public Tenders — for their efforts in expediting the project’s implementation. He praised their effective coordination in maintaining workflow and ensuring compliance with the project’s operational and technical standards.
For her part, Dr. Al-Mashaan outlined the latest developments in the execution of the T2 project, which is divided into three main packages:
- Package 1: Construction, completion, furnishing, and maintenance of the new passenger terminal;
- Package 2: Construction, furnishing, and maintenance of service buildings, access roads, and parking areas;
- Package 3: Construction, completion, furnishing, and maintenance of aircraft parking stands, taxiways, and related service facilities.
She emphasized that all work is progressing in accordance with approved plans and timelines, reflecting the project’s role in supporting Kuwait’s development strategy and enhancing the country’s airport capacity and service quality.
Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Hamoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah highlighted the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s ongoing coordination with all relevant state bodies to ensure smooth progress and operational readiness for the new terminal. He reaffirmed that T2 will serve as a “gateway of modernity” for Kuwait, significantly improving passenger experience and aviation services.
