KUWAIT CITY, Sept 2: Kuwait’s Ministry of Health (MoH) chaired a Gulf workshop on “Innovation and Artificial Intelligence in the Health Sector,” held remotely on Monday with the participation of health ministries from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states.
The workshop was led by Dr. Hisham Kalander, Assistant Undersecretary for External Health Services, as Kuwait currently holds the presidency of the GCC Health Ministers Council, according to a press statement from the ministry.
The event was organized within the framework of the GCC General Secretariat’s efforts to strengthen health integration and advance medical services through the latest technologies.
In his speech, Dr. Kalander emphasized the importance of leveraging technology and artificial intelligence to develop healthcare systems, enhance the quality of medical services, and foster joint Gulf cooperation. He also praised the GCC General Secretariat’s role in organizing workshops and training programs, describing them as a vital platform for exchanging expertise, building competencies, and promoting collaboration in the health sector.
The Kuwaiti delegation highlighted Kuwait’s pioneering initiatives in medical innovation, particularly the use of artificial intelligence to respond to patient inquiries, explain medical examination results, discuss treatment prescriptions, and guide patients in selecting the most suitable medical specialty for their condition.
The workshop program also featured presentations of leading national experiences from GCC states in the field of health-related artificial intelligence, showcasing modern applications designed to serve patients and improve access to reliable health information. Participants also reviewed the latest diagnostic and therapeutic practices using advanced technologies.
