KUWAIT CITY, Sept 24: The Kuwaiti Kite Surf team won the best team award in the 14th King of Lagoon Kitesurfing Tournament held in Egypt. Wajd Al-Sabah from Kuwait won second place in the girls' Airstyle category, while Najla Al-Sabah won the Rising Star Award in the tournament organized by the Chamber of Diving Tourism and Marine Activities.
The Secretary General of the Kuwaiti Marine Sports Club, Khaled Al-Foudari, praised the results of the Kuwaiti team in light of its first participation in the tournament and appreciated the support provided by the General Sports Authority in Kuwait to develop the game. Kitesurfing is a sport that combines the aspects of paragliding, surfing, windsurfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, and wakeboarding.
The tournament was characterized by a display of technical sporting capabilities in the face of strong winds, and an elite group of Egyptian champions and European, Asian, and South American countries participated in the tournament. The Kuwaiti team participated in the tournament with a delegation headed by Abdulaziz Al-Banna and including seven players, including Wajd and Najla Al-Sabah.
