DOHA, Oct 21 (KUNA): Kuwait taekwondo trio claim bronze at Qatar International Championship
Three members of Kuwait’s national taekwondo team won bronze medals in the junior category at the sixth Qatar International Taekwondo Championship in Doha on Tuesday.
Ghala Al-Assaf took bronze in the under-69kg category, while Al-Misk Al-Salem finished third in the under-68kg division, and Luluwa Al-Mahboub secured bronze in the over-68kg category.
National team coach Waleed Al-Mershad told KUNA he was pleased with the three-medal tally, particularly given the high level of competition and the participation of athletes from around the world.
He said the achievement added to Kuwait’s medal record in taekwondo, stressing that participation in international tournaments gives athletes valuable experience and helps them improve their skills and competitiveness.
Organized by the Qatar Taekwondo, Judo and Karate Federation, the championship began Sunday and runs through Wednesday. It features around 1,152 male and female athletes from more than 46 countries competing in four categories: children, juniors, youth, and seniors.
