KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5: Minister of Information and Culture Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi announced on Sunday that the Kuwait Grand Media Award will be launched next year, coinciding with Kuwait being named the Arab Media Capital for 2025. All technical aspects and basic preparations were discussed to ensure the success of the award project, which Minister Al-Mutairi described as a potential "civilized landmark in the journey of Kuwaiti media" following a meeting with relevant public benefit associations. Details of the award, which will be announced in the coming period, were reviewed during the meeting. Additionally, best practices and experiences from the Arab world in the field of media awards were discussed.

Minister Al-Mutairi stated that the Kuwait Grand Media Award aligns with the ministry's strategy and vision to enhance purposeful creative content, develop media production, and elevate its quality to meet the state's aspirations for preserving Kuwaiti media identity. The award aims to monitor innovative trends in Kuwaiti media production and motivate the development of creative media energies, establishing itself as a prominent annual Kuwaiti media event.

The philosophy behind the award is based on media empowerment for purposeful and sustainable content. It aims to develop and enhance Kuwaiti media fields, support professional development, and encourage innovation. According to Al-Mutairi, the award seeks to achieve strategic goals, including highlighting Kuwaiti media's status and its pioneering role in the region by honoring media professionals and institutions that deliver distinguished work. It also aims to develop media infrastructure and encourage international cooperation by hosting global experts in arbitration committees and exchanging experiences with media professionals worldwide.

The Kuwait Grand Media Award will feature several branches, including radio, television, traditional press, and electronic media. Categories will encompass television and radio drama, cultural programs, children's and family programs, youth, sports, scientific, economic, and development programs, news reports, and national and social songs.

An additional Kuwait Appreciation Award for Media will be established to honor individuals who have provided distinguished services and made significant contributions over decades. This award will be granted annually to notable Kuwaiti media figures.

Minister Al-Mutairi noted that a technical committee of specialists and experts will be formed to define the objectives, classification, and branches of the awards. This committee will set technical and professional standards, determine the nomination periods, and establish the executive regulations for the award. A higher committee will oversee the announcement process, selection of nominees for the Kuwait Appreciation Award, formation of arbitration committees, marketing campaigns, award celebrations, and related events. The award criteria will prioritize transparency, integrity, diversity, inclusiveness, innovation, creativity, sustainable development, and international cooperation.
