ARISH, Egypt, August 11: A Kuwaiti military transport plane carrying 10 tons of food aid landed at El Arish International Airport on Sunday, marking the launch of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society’s (KRCS) humanitarian airlift to Gaza, as part of the nationwide “Kuwait by Your Side” campaign.

The aid aims to ease the mounting humanitarian crisis faced by civilians in the Gaza Strip, where ongoing conflict has led to widespread shortages of food, medicine, and other essentials.

Speaking to KUNA upon the aircraft's arrival, Kuwait’s Ambassador to Egypt, Ghanim Al-Ghanim, extended his gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah for their swift directives in launching the relief mission.

Al-Ghanim also acknowledged the enduring solidarity of the Kuwaiti people, whose consistent support for the Palestinian cause remains strong, especially in times of crisis.

He noted that the relief initiative stems from an urgent appeal by the Kuwaiti government, carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs and a number of charitable organizations across Kuwait. This effort resulted in the establishment of an air bridge dedicated to transporting humanitarian aid to the Palestinian territories.

The ambassador highlighted that the first shipment was coordinated among the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Social Affairs, in addition to the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, and executed in cooperation with the Egyptian and Palestinian Red Crescent Societies.

Al-Ghanim also expressed appreciation to the Egyptian authorities and the Egyptian Red Crescent for facilitating the arrival and planned distribution of aid destined for Gaza.

Fawaz Al-Mazrouei, Director General of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, who accompanied the relief flight, reaffirmed that the mission was carried out under the leadership directives of the Amir, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

“This first shipment marks the beginning of Kuwait’s renewed commitment to supporting our Palestinian brothers and sisters during this humanitarian emergency,” Al-Mazrouei said.

He emphasized that the Kuwaiti airlift will continue in the coming days, delivering critical supplies based on assessed needs in Gaza. Coordination with Egyptian and Palestinian Red Crescent authorities will ensure aid is delivered swiftly and effectively to those most affected.
