Kuwait's financial status solid despite challenges

KUWAIT CITY, Sep 1,: Kuwaiti State Minister for Economic Affairs and Investment Abdulaziz Al-Marzouq and Finance Minister Dr. Yaqoub Al-Rifai affirmed Kuwait’s economic resilience and strong financial position against regional and international challenges. This came during the Cabinet meeting, held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al- Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The Cabinet reviewed the visual presentation submitted by the Ministers regarding the state’s financial position as of March 31, 2026, it reflected the state’s financial assets and liabilities, based on the provisions of Article 150 of the Constitution. The presentation was attended by the Undersecretary of the Finance Ministry Aseel Al-Munifi, and the Managing Director of the Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) Sheikh Saoud Salem Al-Sabah. The Ministers reviewed the data on the General Reserve and the Reserve Fund for Future Generations, and affirmed the Kuwaiti economy’s resilience and the strength of the state’s financial position in confronting regional and international challenges, given its substantial assets and financial reserves.

The Cabinet also reviewed the visual presentation on the first-quarter report concerning the implementation of the 2026-2027 budgets of ministries and government departments, which indicated that non-oil revenues are projected to achieve significant growth during the fiscal year 2026-2027, driven by a series of financial reforms currently being implemented. The Cabinet affirmed that these reforms will pave the way for building a more sustainable and competitive economy in the medium and long term. These positive indicators refl ect the strength and resilience of the Kuwaiti economy, contributing to attracting foreign investment to Kuwait and confirming the success of the state’s policy aimed at economic openness and supporting the drive to make Kuwait an attractive financial and commercial center, while providing sustainable job opportunities for future generations  (KUNA)
