Kuwait’s female skating stars shine in Championship opener

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 9 (KUNA): The Kuwait National Figure Skating Championships for girls kicked off at the Kuwait Winter Games Club hall, the tournament’s organizer. Approximately 40 female athletes showcased remarkable levels of performance during the first day of competitions.

The initial tournament day, featuring various competitions for different levels and age groups, saw the crowning of Nawar Al-Ateq, Haneen Al-Awadhi, Bodour Khaled, Narges Ashour, Dana Al-Maatouq, Juri Al-Mulla, Lynn Al-Shuraym, Al-Zein Al-Tawari, Fatima Al-Qallaf, Zeina Al-Khalidi, and Fatima Al-Mutawa as first-place winners in their respective categories.

Salem Al-Ajmi, the director of the Figure game at the club, informed Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that this year’s two-day tournament stands out for the extensive participation of female players, particularly young girls. He praised the impressive levels displayed by the female athletes on the first day.

Al-Ajmi highlighted the tournament’s significance, serving as an opportunity for the Kuwaiti national team coach to identify the best players for upcoming foreign tournaments. He also expressed gratitude for the club’s continuous support in developing this exhibition game.

Juri Al-Mulla emphasized that participating in the tournament provides a crucial opportunity for her and her teammates to assess their artistic levels. She commended the good public attendance and the excellent organization by the club, contributing to the success of the tournament’s first day.

At the conclusion of today’s competitions, Fuhaid Al-Ajmi, the President of the Kuwaiti Winter Games Club, awarded first-place winners in all categories. The tournament will continue tomorrow, focusing on competitions for the highest-level categories.

Alongside the main event, the club hosted the Speed Championship on Ice for the Buds category within the Short Track Competition. Fahd Al-Abdullah secured first place, with Yassin Al-Sayegh and Omar Eyada claiming second and third places, respectively.
