Minister Dr. Al-Huwailah announces amendments to enhance financial disclosure for charitable and cooperative sectors.
KUWAIT CITY, Sept 5: Minister of Social Affairs and Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al- Huwailah affirmed Saturday that charitable work in Kuwait is a firmly rooted national legacy passed down through generations. In a statement to KUNA marking the International Day of Charity, observed annually on September 5, Al-Huwailah said the attention and support given to charitable and humanitarian work by the political leadership refl ects the firmly established position of this approach in Kuwait’s policy and reinforces its humanitarian mission locally and internationally.
Kuwaiti charitable work has evolved from deeply rooted community initiatives into an institutional system carrying a humanitarian message based on supporting those in need and safeguarding human dignity wherever they may be, she added. Al-Huwailah noted that the Ministry of Social Affairs has worked to develop the charitable sector by updating regulatory frameworks and bylaws and enhancing electronic systems. A draft decree-law regulating charitable and humanitarian work comes as a continuation of these efforts and aims to strengthen governance and institutional practices.
She pointed out that regulation and oversight contribute to protecting charitable work, enhancing confidence in it and ensuring aid reaches its intended beneficiaries. She affirmed the ministry’s continued efforts to strengthen cooperation with charitable societies and foundations and utilize modern technologies to improve efficiency and sustainability. “Those working in the field of charity do not merely carry assistance, but a humanitarian trust and responsibility toward a person waiting for a helping hand,” she said, expressing appreciation to all workers and volunteers who have contributed to sustaining Kuwait’s tradition of giving across generations.(KUNA)
