Kuwait's Capital on top in ‘crime rate’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 15: Statistics issued by the Ministry of Justice revealed that the Court of Appeals adjudicated 5,030 out of 5,983 pending cases in June 2026 -- a completion rate of 84.1 percent, while the number of new cases filed in court reached 3,724. The statistics showed that the Capital Governorate Court recorded the highest number of new cases with 2,631 or 70.6 percent of the total, followed by Farwaniya with 20.8 percent, Ahmadi with 3.8 percent, Hawally with 3.1 percent, Jahra with 0.9 percent and the Financial Markets Court with 0.7 percent.

The Capital Governorate has 4,359 cases (72.9 percent), followed by Farwaniya with 18.2 percent, Hawally with 4.2 percent, Ahmadi with 3.3 percent, Financial Markets Court with 0.8 percent and Jahra with 0.6 percent. Regarding the number of cases resolved, the Capital Governorate also led with 3,419 cases or 68 percent of the total, followed by Farwaniya with 22.8 percent, Ahmadi with 4.6 percent, Hawally with 3.1 percent, Financial Markets Court with 0.9 percent and Jahra with 0.6 percent. The Ahmadi Court recorded the highest completion rate in June with 116.7 percent, followed by Farwaniya with 105 percent, Financial Markets Court with 92 percent, Jahra with 88.2 percent, Capital with 78.4 percent and Hawally with 62.9 percent.

The statistics showed that the number of new noncriminal cases reached 3,073, compared to 5,094 pending cases and 4,256 resolved cases, resulting in an overall completion rate of 83.5 percent. Commercial cases topped the list of non-criminal cases, constituting 25.6 percent of new cases, 33.4 percent of pending cases, and 26.7 percent of adjudicated cases. The administrative and financial market cases recorded low, with 0.3 percent of new cases, 0.2 percent of pending cases and 0.1 percent of adjudicated cases. In the criminal sector, 651 new cases were filed, 889 cases are pending and 774 cases, achieving were adjudicated with a completion rate of 87.1 percent. The Capital Governorate Criminal Court led in new criminal cases with 430 or 66.1 percent, followed by the Court of Cassation for Misdemeanors with 29 percent, and municipal misdemeanors and violations with 4.9 percent.
