Kuwait's Awqaf announces Grand Quran Memorization and Recitation Competition

KUWAIT CITY, Oct. 14: The General Secretariat of Awqaf (Awqaf) has officially announced the launch of the 28th Kuwait Grand Quran Memorization and Recitation Competition, which will take place under the high patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The competition, held under the slogan "The Noble and the Pious," is set to engage participants from across various sectors of society.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Acting Secretary General of Awqaf Amal Al-Dallal highlighted that the registration deadline is October 30. She emphasized that the competition will provide a platform for participants to compete in a spiritually enriching environment at the Grand Mosque, to foster a sense of unity and devotion among participants.

The competition will kick off with the final qualifying rounds starting November 23, followed by a closing ceremony on December 17, where winners will be crowned and awards distributed.

Al-Dallal noted that the competition has several categories, welcoming participants from all walks of life, including people with special needs, inmates of correctional institutions, and those in care homes. It also seeks to encourage citizens of all ages to join and showcase their skills in Quran memorization and recitation.

She further elaborated that the competition offers diverse prizes for both memorization and recitation of the Quran, with several age groups and categories represented. Reflecting on the success of previous editions, she noted that 54 entities from both the government and private sectors participated last year, resulting in 280 winners, including both male and female participants. Since its inception, the competition has crowned a total of 4,465 winners from 46,586 participants over the years, marking a significant achievement in the nation's commitment to preserving and promoting the teachings of the Quran.

Al-Dallal called on Kuwait’s citizens to participate in this prestigious competition, emphasizing that it serves as both a spiritual and educational platform for nurturing the nation's deeply rooted Islamic values.
