KOBE, May 19: Kuwait's national team athlete Faisal Al-Rajhi secured third place in the men's 400-meter T54 heat 1 at the Para Athletics World Championships, earning him a spot in Monday's final. Al-Rajhi clocked in at 49.17 in the preliminary round, trailing behind Australia's Samuel Carter and Britain's Nathan Maguire, both of whom secured automatic qualification to the final. This event took place in the western Japanese city of Kobe.

On the preceding Saturday, Al-Rajhi clinched the gold medal in the 5,000-meter race. The Kobe World Para Athletics Championships, held in East Asia for the first time, also serves as a qualifier for the upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Organizers reported the participation of approximately 1,000 athletes from 100 countries and regions.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Social Affairs, Labour, Family, and Childhood Affairs, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, Dr. Amthal Hadi Al-Hewaila, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the runner Faisal Al-Rajhi for clinching the gold medal in the 5,000-meter wheelchair race at the Para World Athletics Championships in Japan.

Dr. Al-Hewaila personally reached out to the delegation's head and the athlete, commending Al-Rajhi's outstanding performance throughout the championship.

Furthermore, she reiterated the government's unwavering support for disabled sports, aligning with the directives of the political leadership. The government remains dedicated to nurturing and backing both male and female athletes across all domains, to secure further triumphs for Kuwait on the global stage.
