Kuwait’s Al-Kharafi clinches third place in international show jumping championship

Bukhamseen, Hayat and Al-Hazami stand in the middle of the Grand Prix champions.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 11: Kuwait’s national team rider, Ali Jassim Al-Kharafi, secured a notable third place in the prestigious Grand Prix round of the “KIB The Stadium” three-star international show jumping championship. The event, organized by the “SAFEX” company and sponsored by Kuwait International Bank, concluded at Marina Beach.Abdullah Al-Awadi, representing Kuwait, finished in fourth place, followed by riders Ghazi Al-Jariwi, Abdullah Al-Roudhan, Anaz Al-Anaz, Hamad Al-Hajri, Fawaz Rashid, Abdullah Al-Fares, Madi Al-Khamis, and Sayed Adnan Al-Alawi.

Competing in the challenging Grand Prix race at a height of 150 cm, a qualifying event for the World Cup, Al-Kharafi delivered an outstanding performance. He claimed the third spot with a time of 53.87 seconds and four penalty points, marking an impressive achievement in the current season’s most significant equestrian race. Saudi international rider Abdullah Al-Sharbatli emerged as the Grand Prix champion, securing first place without penalty points with a time of 51.63 seconds aboard his horse “Quincy 230.” Khaled Al-Mubti, also from Saudi Arabia, secured second place and earned an official qualification for the World Cup.

The award ceremony was attended by Raed Jawad Bukhamseen, Vice Chairman and CEO of Kuwait International Bank, Masoud Johar Hayat, President of the Kuwait Equestrian Federation, and Ahmed Suleiman Al-Hazami, CEO of SAFX.

Reflecting on the challenging Grand Prix round, Sharbatly noted the difficulty of the long second round and revealed his strategic focus on achieving a fast time to secure an advanced position. Expressing gratitude for his success, Sharbatly mentioned that he and his colleague Khaled Al-Mubti are leading the Arab League. He added that despite his absence due to injury in the last period, he currently holds second place after participating in three rounds, while other riders took part in four rounds.
