HURGHADA, April 21: Rashid Al-Kandari, the president of the Kuwait Triathlon Federation, achieved a significant milestone by winning election to the Arab Triathlon Federation during its recent general assembly meeting held in Hurghada. Additionally, he secured membership in the Executive Office of the Arab Triathlon Federation. The elections took place alongside the Arab and African Championships, pivotal events in qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Al-Kandari attributed this accomplishment to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, a staunch supporter of Kuwaiti sports. He expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to Kuwait securing a seat in the Arab Triathlon, including Major General Ahmed Nasser, the President of the Arab Federation for the sport, and the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee for their unwavering support.

Highlighting Kuwait's dedication to developing triathlon in the Gulf, Arab, and Asian regions, Al-Kandari emphasized that this achievement reflects Kuwaiti sports' commitment to growth. He expressed hope for the success of himself and his colleagues in advancing the sport within the Arab Triathlon Federation.

The newly elected leadership of the Arab Triathlon Federation includes Major General Ahmed Nasser as President, Dr. Tariq Al-Khayyat as First Deputy, Major General Abdul Malik Jani as Second Deputy, Bakhtiar Rasoul as Third Deputy, and Field Marshal Yasser Othman as Fourth Deputy.

Membership in the federation comprises individuals from various Arab countries, including Rashid Al-Kandari and Ali Muqbil from Saudi Arabia, Muhammad Abu Tir from Palestine, Ali Mabrouk from Libya, Dana Shubat from Syria, and Dr. Ferial Shweiter representing women's membership from Algeria.
