KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (KUNA): Kuwait’s deaf national team continued its strong showing at the 2026 Asia Pacific Deaf Games in Malaysia, with Abdulrahman Al-Anzi advancing to the semifinals of the classical chess competition after defeating a Malaysian player.

Kuwait Deaf Sports Club Chairman Khaled Al-Mutairi said Al-Anzi’s achievement reflected the determination and commitment of the national team’s players to deliver strong performances and represent Kuwait with distinction at the continental event.

Al-Mutairi said the team is competing with high morale and great ambition after thorough preparations, adding that Al-Anzi’s place in the semifinals has strengthened Kuwait’s hopes of reaching the podium.

He praised the performances of Kuwait’s deaf athletes, saying they demonstrated their ability to compete at the highest level in Asia. He also expressed confidence that Al-Anzi and his teammates would continue producing positive results and raising Kuwait’s flag at future competitions.

Kuwait is represented at the 2026 Asia Pacific Deaf Games in four sports — table tennis, chess, athletics and bowling — in an event bringing together deaf athletes from across Asia and the Pacific.
