Kuwait's Al-Aidan advances to the teqball semifinals at the Asian Games

NAGOYA, Japan, Sept 17: Kuwait’s Zaid Al-Aidan advanced to the men’s singles semifinals in teqball at the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026, in Japan.

Al-Aidan reached the knockout stage after winning three of his four Group A matches. He defeated Myanmar, Mongolia, and Kyrgyzstan 2-0, while his only loss came against Iraq, also by a 0-2 scoreline.

He then produced a strong performance in the quarterfinals, beating Japan 2-0 to secure his place in the last four. Al-Aidan will compete in the semifinals on Saturday, remaining in contention for a medal.

The semifinal berth represents a significant achievement for Kuwait in teqball, a relatively new sport on the Asian Games program. It allows Al-Aidan to challenge for a podium spot.

Kuwait also secured a semifinal berth in the men’s doubles, with Basel Ahmad and Abdulwahab Al-Qattan progressing after a strong run through the competition. They will face Lebanon in the semifinals on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Salman Al-Ibrahim and Hessa Al-Failakawi will begin their mixed doubles campaign at 7:00 am on Saturday.
