Kuwaitis to get top jobs in co-ops soon

KUWAIT CITY, March 30: Public Works Minister Mai Al-Baghli will soon issue a ministerial decision to amend Article 52 of Ministerial Resolution No. 46 on organizing cooperative work and criteria for appointment to leadership positions, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources. Sources indicated that the amendment will clarify the duration, practical certificate, years of experience, other requirements, administrative and functional structure, and monthly salary for those occupying leadership positions: KD2,000 for the general manager; KD1,500 each for his deputies for commercial, administrative and financial affairs; KD1,000 for department heads; KD500 for citizens who will be employed in the cooperative departments, in addition to the employment subsidy from the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) that aims to encourage citizens to work in the cooperative sector. Sources said the Cooperative Oversight Department in the ministry will be entrusted with listing vacancies in the cooperative sector.

Sources added the list will be submitted to the boards of directors of the cooperatives and then to PAM, which will then review the applications to ensure strict compliance with the conditions, and then specify the exam dates for short-listed applicants. Sources disclosed the exams will include a special part to gauge the personal characteristics of applicants in order to determine if they can withstand work pressure, in addition to theoretical questions in line with the scientific specialization.

Sources added all those who will pass the exams will be interviewed by the concerned committee in the Kuwaitization team.
