KUWAIT CITY, Nov 30 (KUNA): Kuwait’s top shooters were celebrated for their outstanding performances at the late Sheikh Ali Al-Sabah Annual Shooting Tournament, which concluded recently.

In the men’s events, Hamad Al-Nashman claimed first place in the 10-meter air pistol, while Saud Al-Subaie took the top spot in the 10-meter air rifle. Salman Al-Enezi and Ali Al-Mutairi were victorious in the 25-meter pistol and 50-meter rifle events, respectively. In archery competitions, Saad Al-Balood won the Olympic archery, and Abdullah Malallah topped the compound archery contest.

In the women’s events, Ghozlan Ali secured first place in the 10-meter air pistol, while Maryam Arzouqi emerged champion in the 10-meter air rifle. Suad Al-Bahr and Hanan Al-Miyas took the top spots in the Olympic and compound archery events, respectively.

The juniors also made their mark, with Rami Al-Subaie winning the 10-meter air rifle for boys, Retaj Al-Zaiadi claiming the girls’ title in the same event, and Dana Al-Matouq finishing first in archery and Olympic shooting.

Speaking after the tournament, Sheikh Ali Thamer Ali Al-Sabah, the event’s sponsor, said the tournament is held annually to support Kuwait’s male and female shooters, who continue to achieve at the international level. He praised the efforts of the Kuwait Shooting Club, noting their role in following the legacy of Sheikh Ali Al-Sabah in supporting athletes.

Meanwhile, Kuwait Shooting Club President Duaij Al-Otaibi said the tournament saw strong participation across multiple disciplines and emphasised the importance of local competitions in developing the skills and competitiveness of Kuwaiti athletes.
