Kuwaitis among 28 held in campaign against vice

KUWAIT CITY, July 9: A total of 28 individuals including nine Kuwaiti citizens were arrested from various areas of the country. In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the General Department of Public Relations and Security Media explained that the Public Security Sector, under the guidance of Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs at Ministry of Interior Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah, exerted tremendous efforts to arrest individuals who are wanted by law as well as violators of the law of the land. Officers from Farwaniya Security Directorate arrested two Asian expatriates and one Arab expatriate.

The Asian suspects were found in possession of eight sachets of methamphetamine and a certain quantity of newspaper-wrapped hashish as well as a large sum of money. The Arab suspect was in possession of drugs including heroin and a large sum of money.

Meanwhile, officers from Hawally Security Directorate arrested seven individuals – four Kuwaitis including a woman, two Asian expatriates and an Arab national. They were found in possession of drugs and had consumed alcohol.

Furthermore, officers from Ahmadi Security Directorate arrested an Asian expatriate in possession of nine sachets of suspected drugs and 13 sachets of methamphetamine as well as marijuana. Also, officers from Capital Security Directorate arrested a Bedoun resident who was wanted by the General Department for Sentences Enforcement. They also arrested two Asian expatriates in possession of 19 bottles of locally manufactured liquor, a Kuwaiti citizen who is wanted for non-payment of a debt, and six Kuwaiti citizens who are wanted by law for their involvement in some cases. They also recovered a stolen vehicle and referred it to Da’iya Police Station. In addition, officers of Public Security Operations Department arrested seven individuals at security checkpoints. They were four Kuwaitis and three expatriates who were found in possession of drugs.

The General Department of Public Relations and Security Media affirmed that all arrested individuals have been referred with the confiscated illicit items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal measures.
