Kuwaiti woman swindled by Lebanese man; Hunt for Hawalli thieves

KUWAIT CITY, March 21: A Kuwaiti woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, has filed a complaint with the Salhiya Police Station, accusing a Lebanese man of swindling her, reports Al-Rai daily. The suspect reportedly told the woman he is working for a interior décor company and offered his services to do work on her Italian restaurant and escaped with KD 4,500 advance. The woman said she called the man several times over the past four days but he did not reply. She then went looking for him according to the address mentioned on his visit card, but found no company of that name.

Motorist nabbed: The Ahmadi police have arrested a reckless motorist for committing several traffic violations and endangering the lives of other road users, reports Al-Rai daily. The motorist was arrested for driving a car without a numbers plate. It has also been reported the suspect was going for a wedding ceremony and on his car was written ‘Congratulations on your second marriage’. It has been reported the suspect also refused police orders to stop and attempted to escape by stepping on the gas pedal. He was chased, arrested and taken to a police station.

Hunt for thieves: Police are looking for a gang of thieves for breaking into 10 apartments from various residential buildings in Hawalli, reports Al- Rai daily. A security source said after the victims filed complaints with several police stations in Hawalli investigators discovered all the apartments were opened in similar fashion with the use of master key. Investigators also discovered the robbers chose their victims in a professional manner after studying their movements and after making sure there were no CCTV cameras installed in the buildings and there were no caretakers for the building.
