KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30 :  The Kuwaiti weightlifting team recently participated in the Arab Weightlifting Championship, which took place from October 25 to 30 in Cairo. The competition saw participation from ten Arab countries, including Kuwait, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Bahrain, Syria, Lebanon, Algeria, Tunisia, and Yemen. The Kuwaiti team performed exceptionally well, securing a total of 29 medals in various categories. Kuwait's women's team achieved a historic milestone, securing the second-place position in the tournament, marking a significant moment in their history of participation.

The women's team accumulated an impressive tally of 14 medals, with notable performances by athletes like Malak Al-Haddad, who clinched two medals for her country, a gold medal in the junior women's category, and a bronze medal in the 45-kg weight category. Her teammate, Amal Al-Mesaieed, earned three silver medals in the 81-kg weight category. Other notable performances include Hanouf Al-Majren, who secured two bronze medals in the 45-kg weight category, and Al-Zahraa Kamshad, who claimed a bronze medal in the 64-kg weight category. Zainab Al-Mohammad also made her presence felt with two bronze medals in the 71-kg weight category, while Abrar Al-Fahad impressed with three silver medals in the 76-kg weight category.

The men's team contributed to Kuwait's medal count with four bronze medals. Hussein Munshid emerged as a standout performer, earning three bronze medals in the 49-kilogram weight category, while Fahd Al Otaibi added another bronze in the 55-kilogram weight category. Mohammed Al-Mulla's remarkable performance was highlighted by two silver medals and a bronze in the 61-kg weight category, while his teammate, Hamid, dominated the 89-kg weight category with an impressive haul of three silver medals.

The head of the Kuwaiti delegation, Talal Al-Jassar, who also serves as the President of the Kuwaiti Weightlifting Federation and Vice President of the Arab Weightlifting Federation, expressed his admiration for the exceptional performance and enthusiasm displayed by Kuwaiti athletes throughout the tournament.
