SANYA, April 25: Kuwaiti athletes continued their participation in the Asian Beach Games, with the teqball mixed doubles duo Salman Al-Ibrahim and Hessa Al-Failakawi kicking off their group-stage campaign.
The Kuwaiti pair is aiming to showcase the rapid development of teqball in the country. They begin with a challenging match against Thailand at 1:00 pm, before facing North Korea at 2:00 pm in a crucial encounter that could determine qualification to the knockout rounds.
Kuwait Teqball Committee secretary Ali Behzad highlighted that teqball is a modern sport derived from football, helping players improve ball control, precision, and technical ability, adding that the committee remains open to all who wish to take up the sport.
In aquathlon, Kuwait concluded its participation in a highly competitive field featuring 40 competitors from across Asia. Abdulaziz Al-Huwaidi finished 26th, followed closely by Mohammed Bukhalaf in 27th place after determined performances.
In judo, Yousef Al-Dosari exited the 69kg category after a strong effort in a highly competitive bracket, while Fahad Al-Marzouqi was eliminated in the 77kg division.
Sailing events continued for the fourth consecutive day, featuring intense competition in the Optimist and ILCA4 classes. Meanwhile, the women’s teqball duo Hessa Al-Failakawi and Shahd Al-Mansour ended their run after exiting the group stage.
