Kuwaiti teams compete in 2025 World Robot Olympiad in Singapore

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 25: Kuwaiti teams are participating in the 2025 World Robot Olympiad (WRO) finals in Singapore, supported by the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity, part of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), the center announced Tuesday.

The competition, one of the largest international educational events in robotics, began Tuesday and will run for four days. This year, more than 100,000 students worldwide took part in the qualifying rounds, with finalists representing 85 countries across multiple age categories.

Eight Kuwaiti students advanced to the finals after topping local qualifiers in the 2025 season’s Future Innovators and Robo Mission tracks. They received intensive training and development workshops in recent months to enhance their technical skills and prepare for the global competition.

The Kuwaiti qualifiers include:

  • Future Innovators Track – Senior Category: Faisal Al-Qatami, Issa Al-Aziri, and Zain Al-Khaled, who took first place locally.
  • Future Innovators Track – Elementary Category: Lian Al-Maqahwi and Jana Al-Khayyat, first place winners.
  • Robo Mission Track – Junior Category: Mohammed Al-Kandari, Shihab Al-Kandari, and Omar Al-Kandari, also first place winners.

The center emphasized that supporting Kuwaiti students at the Singapore finals is crucial for developing their skills in programming, engineering, and innovation, while highlighting Kuwait’s presence in a major international educational competition.

The Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity extended its best wishes to the students, expressing hope that they will achieve results that reflect their efforts and raise Kuwait’s profile on the global stage.
