DOHA, July 20: Khadija Al-Halwaji, the talented Kuwaiti table tennis player, achieved a remarkable victory for the national team in the U-15 singles category at the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship in Doha. In an intense match against Nepal's national team player, Al-Halwaji emerged triumphant with a three-set to two scoreline, displaying excellent control throughout the game.

While Al-Halwaji's victory marked a great start for the team, fellow players Maryam Al-Halwaji and Rayan Al-Aidan faced challenging matches against players from India and Thailand, respectively, in the same category, resulting in three-set defeats.

In the under-19 singles category, Jana Al Bahwa and Jana Abdullah encountered tough opponents from Thailand, Japan, Uzbekistan, and India, unfortunately, leading to defeats in their matches.

The youth team faced tough competition in the tournament, with Haider Al-Qallaf, Hassan Faraj, and Khaled Al-Dabbous encountering losses in the U-15 singles category against players from Qatar, China, and Hong Kong.

Similarly, in the U-19 singles category, Mohammed Al-Otaibi and Khaled Al-Hajraf faced formidable opponents from Saudi Arabia, China, Iran, and Chinese Taipei, resulting in challenging matches.

The 27th edition of the Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship commenced in Doha, Qatar, last Monday, featuring Kuwait's national team. The championship will run until the 22nd of this month, promising thrilling table tennis action throughout. (KUNA)
