Kuwaiti swimmers make waves in Doha

DOHA, Jan 13 (KUNA): Hamad Al-Ghaith, representing the Kuwaiti national team, secured the bronze medal in the 400-meter freestyle race for the 13-14 age category during the fourth day of the Second Arab Aquatics Age Group Championships in Doha, Qatar. This achievement contributed to the team’s total medal count, which now stands at an impressive 10.

Faisal Abu Al-Hassan, head of the delegation and board member of Kuwait Swimming Association, expressed his joy at the swimmers’ outstanding performances. He commended both the players and coaching staff for highlighting Kuwaiti swimming talents and achieving remarkable success with several podium finishes.

Al-Ghaith had previously won the silver medal in the 200-meter backstroke race for the 13-14 age category on Friday. Another Kuwaiti swimmer, Mohammad Zubaid, also claimed a silver medal in the 50-meter freestyle race in the 15-16 age group.

The Kuwaiti swimming team had a triumphant Thursday, securing three medals, including a gold and two silvers. Notable victories included Zubaid’s gold in the 50-meter backstroke race for the 15-16 age category and silver in the 100-meter freestyle race for the same category.

In the 4×100-meter freestyle relay event, the Kuwaiti team in the 13-14 age group, consisting of Al-Ghaith, Hasan Al-Suaileek, Saud Al-Enezi, and Hassan Rajab, clinched the silver medal.

During the championship’s first day, Kuwait had an impressive start, winning four medals, including gold in the 50-meter butterfly by Al-Suaileek, silver in the 200-meter freestyle by Al-Ghaith, and two bronzes in the 50-meter butterfly and 4×200-meter freestyle relay by Al-Enezi.

The Second Arab Aquatics Age Group Championships, which commenced last Wednesday, is set to continue making waves until January 15th.
