KUWAIT CITY, Nov 5: The Kuwaiti Surgeons Association on Tuesday inaugurated the Third Kuwait Conference on Combating Obesity, held in cooperation with the Medical Services Authority of the Ministry of Defense and the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
The two-day conference was launched under the patronage of the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Meshaal Al-Sabah, and in the presence of the Head of the Medical Services Authority, Major General Dr. Waleed Malallah.
In his opening remarks, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Meshaal emphasized that the conference reflects the spirit of cooperation and integration between the Ministry of Defense and medical institutions, underscoring the importance of effective partnerships between national and international organizations. He praised the significant role of the Medical Services Authority in supporting Kuwait’s efforts to combat obesity, enhance public health, and promote awareness of preventive healthcare.
Following the opening ceremony, Sheikh Abdullah toured the accompanying exhibition, where he reviewed the latest medical technologies and awareness initiatives presented by participating institutions. The showcased programs focused on obesity prevention, treatment, and the promotion of healthier lifestyles.
The conference, organized within the framework of the Ministry of Defense’s strategic plan (2025–2030), aims to strengthen healthcare services for ministry personnel, address pressing public health challenges, and facilitate the exchange of medical expertise among specialists.
