Kuwaiti sponsors deny torturing two Filipino maids

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 31: The Filipino labor file has once again shown the ugly side of behavior after a lawyer hired by the Philippines embassy filed a complaint accusing a Kuwaiti man and his wife of torturing two Filipina housemaids who then sought help from the embassy of their country, reports Al-Rai daily.

However, when the husband and wife were summoned for interrogation, they denied the accusation and accused one of the two maids of running away from the home after stealing KD 1,000.

A security source said, the embassy’s lawyer told the police station the two workers were subjected to physical torture and were burned with sharp objects and submitted medical reports. The two workers have been referred to Forensics. In the meantime, the authorities are conducting further investigations.
