KUWAIT CITY , Jan 21, (Agencies): Kuwait's shooting team comprising of Abdullah Al-Tarqi, Muhammad Al-Daihani, and Saud Al-Kandari clinched silver, with India leading the pack and China securing the third spot at the Asian Shotgun Championships, bringing the nation's total to five medals of various distinctions.

Meanwhile, the Championship concluded successfully at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah "Olympic" ranges complex, featuring the enthusiastic participation of 26 countries.On the closing day, attention turned to the mixed doubles qualifiers for skeet shooting, culminating in the thrilling final of the competition.Kuwait's shooting contingent demonstrated remarkable prowess, securing four medals and earning two coveted qualification cards for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.

Engineer Duaij Al-Otaibi, President of the Arab and Kuwaiti Shooting Federations and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee, expressed satisfaction with the championship's accomplishments. Al-Otaibi affirmed that the Asian Championship not only met but exceeded its goals by organizing high-level competitions that showcased the continent's world champions.

He commended Kuwait for setting exemplary standards in tournament organization, highlighting the seamless coordination and lack of complaints from the participating teams representing 26 countries. Al-Otaibi credited the success to the dedicated efforts of the organizing committee and various working committees.

Offering congratulations to shooter Muhammad Al-Daihani, who secured a bronze medal in the men's skeet competition and qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Al-Otaibi recognized the pivotal role of divine providence and the unwavering support of Tawfiq Al-Daihani and the Kuwaiti Shooting Federation.

Emphasizing Kuwait's strong participation in the "Skeet and Trap" competitions at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Al-Otaibi expressed determination to build on the shooting achievements of previous Olympic events.

Al-Otaibi extended gratitude to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad, His Highness the Prime Minister Dr. Sheikh Muhammad Sabah Al-Salem, Sheikh Fahad Al-Nasser (Chairman of the Kuwaiti Olympic Committee), and the General Sports Authority for their steadfast support of the sport of archery.

Obaid Al-Osaimi, Secretary General of the Arab and Kuwaiti Shooting Federations and Director of the Championship, celebrated Muhammad Al-Daihani's achievement, emphasizing its significance as a new milestone in Kuwaiti shooting's illustrious history. Al-Osaimi expressed hope for the qualification of additional Kuwaiti male and female shooters in the upcoming World Championship scheduled for April. He underscored the high technical level witnessed at the Asian Championship, noting the intense competition among participating teams vying for medals.
