Kuwaiti shooters lead the pack at Asian Shooting Championship

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3: The Asian Trap Shooting Championship comes to a close today with the finals of the Men’s Trap 50 Targets and Women’s Trap 50 Targets events, held at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex. The championship, which runs until November 8, has witnessed strong performances and intense competition among Asia’s best shooters.

Kuwaiti shooters continued to shine in the qualification rounds, taking the lead in both categories. In the women’s event, Shahad Al-Hawal and Hajar Abdulmalik of Kuwait, along with Marwa Bourki of Bahrain, topped the standings. In the men’s competition, Khaled Al-Mudhaf and Abdulrahman Al-Faihan (Kuwait) were among the leaders alongside Nikita Musayev from Kazakhstan.

Lebanese shooter Ahmad Dakkour praised the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Ranges, calling them among the best facilities in the world for hosting major international tournaments. He also commended the organizing committee, chaired by Eng. Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi, President of the Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations, for their professionalism and excellent organization.

Dakkour highlighted that the championship’s first two days were marked by perfect weather and strong participation, with around 72 shooters from various Asian nations, adding excitement and competitiveness to the event. He expressed his eagerness to compete in Kuwait regularly, citing the world-class facilities and high-level organization that enable shooters to perform at their best.

Saudi shooter Naif Al-Buqmi expressed his gratitude to the Higher Organizing Committee for the outstanding organization and attention to detail, noting that every effort was made to ensure the comfort and success of the participants.

He said, “This is my first time competing in a continental championship hosted by Kuwait, and I was truly impressed by the Kuwait Shooting Federation’s exceptional facilities and smooth organization. The level of competition among Asian shooters has been very strong, all within a great sporting spirit.”

Al-Buqmi added that even those who did not make the podium have gained valuable experience and exposure, which will benefit them in future championships.
