KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: A Kuwaiti court has sentenced a citizen to one year in prison after finding him guilty of defrauding a colleague using a forged power of attorney purportedly issued to a lawyer.
According to the case, the defendant allegedly used the fake power of attorney and enlisted two expatriates to prepare lawsuits as part of the scheme. The court also ordered him to pay KD 28,000 in compensation and return the amount allegedly embezzled.
The case was filed through lawyer Muhammad Al-Badher, who represented the complainant.
The ruling follows the court’s finding that the defendant had used the forged legal document to carry out the fraud against his colleague.
