Kuwaiti sent to jail for insulting Amir

KUWAIT CITY, July 8: The Public Prosecution has decided to detain citizen Jamal Al- Sayer for 21 days at the Central Prison in a state security case. He is expected to be produced in court soon, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The prosecution has charged Al-Sayer with insulting the princely self (the Amir) and broadcasting false news in a series of tweets on his Twitter account. The accused had initially denied the accusations against him but after he was confronted with evidence, he said he did not mean or intend to offend anyone and that what he said was merely his opinion.
