KUWAIT CITY, Oct 5: The Criminal Court sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen and a Saudi to seven years in prison with hard labor on the charge of forging the Kuwaiti nationality, reports Al-Rai daily. The court also ordered the Saudi to return to the Treasury all the money in terms of salaries and loans he obtained from the state on the strength of forged nationality documents.

According to the case papers an officer from the Search and Follow-up Department working for the Directorate-General of Nationality and Passports testified that his secret investigations indicated that the second accused agreed with the first accused and forged Kuwaiti identity papers in exchange for a sum of money and Kuwaiti allegedly allowed the Saudi to use his personal photos to help him forge the document on the strength he obtained the Kuwaiti civil ID and passport.

Prior to that agreement, the first accused forged his birth certificate in the name of the Saudi and he also committed fraud in the procedures for adding to his Kuwaiti citizenship file.
