SHARJAH, Feb 11: Kuwaiti national rowing team athletes Maryam Al-Ajmi and Janan Khalifwah, representing Al-Bahri Sports Club, made a historic impression at the 8th Arab Women’s Clubs Games. The competition took place on the waters of Al-Hamriya Beach. It was organized by the Sharjah Women’s Sports Foundation under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Foundation and consort of the Ruler of Sharjah.

Emirati media outlets, including TV channels and newspapers, lauded Al-Ajmi and Khalifwah for their outstanding performances, highlighting them as exemplary Arab athletes who are confidently developing their technical skills and enhancing their regional competitive profile. Both athletes displayed remarkable coordination and technical harmony in a competition featuring strong participation from Arab countries, with closely matched skill levels.

The rowers emphasized that their passion for rowing and love of the sea have been the main motivators for their ongoing growth. They also noted that the supportive sports environment provided crucial opportunities to refine their skills and gain valuable experience. Their participation followed a major challenge—a fire at the club’s rowing and boat storage facilities—which further inspired them to persevere and represent Kuwait with distinction.

Al-Bahri Sports Club Secretary-General Khaled Al-Foudari congratulated Al-Ajmi and Khalifwah on their exceptional achievement, praising their skill, determination, and commitment to proudly representing Kuwait at this major Arab sporting event.
