KUWAIT CITY, March 14: A phrase uttered by an expatriate ‘By God, I don’t know if the insults and slander will stop’ has landed the man in trouble, reports Al-Anba daily. The expatriate said this to a Kuwaiti, when the latter due to sheer reckless driving almost caused an accident. However, the Kuwaiti reported the incident to the authorities, accusing the expatriate of insulting and defaming him. When the expatriate was summoned for interrogation, after the General Traffic Department helped identify him, he denied intentionally insulting the citizen, stating that the phrase was uttered in the heat of the moment after narrowly avoiding an accident caused by the citizen’s reckless driving.

The incident was registered by the authorities as a misdemeanor and the expatriate said he did not intend to insult or defame the citizen, explaining that the phrase was a spontaneous reaction to the dangerous driving behavior of the citizen. The case highlights the importance of exercising caution and refraining from engaging in confrontational behavior, especially on public roads where such incidents can escalate quickly. It also underscores the need for clear communication and understanding of cultural and linguistic nuances to avoid misunderstandings and potential legal repercussions.
