KUWAIT CITY, June 13: The Criminal Court sentenced a Kuwaiti psychiatrist to five years in prison and fined him KD1 million for receiving his salary while he was abroad for 15 years. The Ministry of Health’s Legal Department revealed that a Kuwaiti psychiatrist employed at the ministry, has been absent from work for 15 years and he was outside the country, yet he continued receiving his full salary in collusion with another employee. As a result, a report was submitted to the Public Prosecution. The Criminal Investigation Department conducted investigations and looked into the psychiatrist’s movements into and out of the country, leading to the discovery that he resided in another country for 15 years while receiving full salary.
