KUWAIT CITY, July 10: The General Secretariat of the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) mourned the passing of Kuwaiti poet Yaqoub Al-Subaie, who passed away on Tuesday at the age of 79. The General Secretariat conveyed in a statement the condolences of Minister of Information and Culture and Chairman of the NCCAL Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, as well as the council's leaders and employees, to the family and loved ones of the deceased, asking Allah Almighty to inspire them with patience and solace and to have mercy on the deceased. The late poet was a great cultural figure, with his prominent contributions to the cultural movement in Kuwait and the Arab world, in addition to his pioneering works in national songs. He had many poems characterized by beauty and high human meanings, and examples of his poetry have been studied in educational curricula.
