Kuwaiti poet Al-Babtain awarded ‘Order of Albanian National Flag’

KUWAIT CITY, July 14: Albanian President Ilir Meta awarded Kuwaiti poet Abdulaziz Al-Babtain the Order of the Albanian National Flag for his efforts in spreading Arab culture and the culture of peace in the world through the Abdulaziz Saud Al- Babtain Cultural Foundation.

The foundation said in a press statement recently that awarding the poet Al-Babtain the highest honor in Albania came in a ceremony honoring the Albanian president, in the presence of a group of heads of the diplomatic corps in his country. The statement added that President Meta expressed in his speech his deep appreciation for Al-Babtain’s efforts, activities and events to spread a culture of peace through education and forums, and his repeated calls for dialogue, renunciation of violence and a peaceful approach to preserve the future of future generations.

“This is precisely what Al-Babtain has done and is doing with exemplary dedication and his” cultural institution that he has successfully established since 1989 by teaching and promoting the language of culture, poetry, dialogue, communication, social development and the recognition and promotion of civilization, culture and traditions of Arab countries around the world,” Meta said.

He added, “Abdulaziz Al-Babtain belongs to a very friendly country with which we have excellent relations and we have a sincere will to develop them. He is also a great poet and I eagerly wait to see his works translated into Albanian.” For his part, Al-Babtain expressed, according to the statement, sincere thanks and appreciation to Albanian President Ilir Meta for awarding him the medal. Al-Babtain said that this medal is a tribute to the State of Kuwait, Arab culture and intellectuals in general wherever they are, indicating that “it will remain committed to its noble goal, which is to dry up the sources of injustice and achieve a just and sustainable peace.” (KUNA)
