KUWAIT CITY, July 18: The Asian Table Tennis Championship, featuring men's and women's teams and singles, is set to conclude this evening in Doha, Qatar. The prestigious event has witnessed the participation of 213 talented male and female players representing 24 countries, all competing at the Women’s Sports Committee Hall in Aspire Zone.

Unfortunately, the Kuwaiti girls' team faced tough challenges, losing to the teams of Thailand, Lebanon, and Korea during the preliminary round competitions. Similarly, the youth team encountered formidable opponents, suffering defeats against the teams of Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, and India.

Eid Al-Owaihan, a member of the Kuwaiti Federation, emphasized the significance of the championship in nurturing young players, providing them with valuable experience, and enhancing their skills and capabilities. He acknowledged that the participants are still in their formative years, and such competitions play a crucial role in honing their talents and strengthening their determination to excel in future tournaments. Al-Owaihan also highlighted the importance of focus and physical fitness in the game, which can be cultivated through international exposure.

Looking ahead, the tournament will continue with the doubles competitions for young men and women starting tomorrow, Thursday. As the championship enters its final stages, players from different nations are expected to showcase their best performances and vie for the prestigious titles. The event promises to be a thrilling conclusion to a week of intense table tennis action in Doha.
