HONG KONG, Nov 24 (KUNA): Kuwaiti athlete Abdulrahman Al-Babtain of the Kuwait Sea Sport Club secured second place and the silver medal in the 25-kilometer surfski endurance race at the 2025 Asian Kayak Cup, held in Hong Kong.
Kayak supervisor at the club, Mohammad Al-Awadhi, told KUNA on Monday that the race was intensely competitive, lasting two hours and 20 minutes, and witnessed a strong public turnout along with wide media coverage.
The championship, which began on November 18, featured teams from Hong Kong, Macau, India, China, Japan, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Singapore, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and Kuwait. Winners were crowned after the final events in the presence of International Canoe Federation President Thomas Konietzko, Al-Awadhi added.
He praised Al-Babtain for proudly raising Kuwait’s flag, noting that the achievement adds to Kuwait’s growing successes in kayaking, supported by the Public Authority for Sport and the club’s board.
