Kuwaiti Mother Registered Iraqi Son as Brother, DNA Reveals Shocking Fraud

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 21: The Nationality Investigation Department has concluded a thorough investigation into a sensitive case involving the mixing of lineages and illegal registration in citizenship files. Authorities discovered that a Kuwaiti woman, with the consent of her father, had registered her son(born to her Iraqi husband) as her brother to include him in her father’s file and secure Kuwaiti citizenship.

Informed sources stated that the woman had married an Iraqi man and had a son before the couple later separated. With her father’s agreement, the child was officially listed in the grandfather’s file as his “son,” effectively making him appear as the “brother” of his own mother, although in reality he was her son.

The investigation revealed that the son currently works in the oil sector. DNA testing confirmed his biological relationship to his mother, providing conclusive scientific evidence that he is her son and not her brother, as recorded in official documents. Investigators also uncovered his real Iraqi name and confirmed that he is unmarried with no other official records.

Authorities emphasized that “mixing lineages” is among the most serious forms of forgery in citizenship files, due to its direct impact on family identity and legitimate lineage.

The case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal proceedings. The son, aware of the forgery, is currently held in the central prison awaiting trial. Officials noted that simply renewing any identity or official document under false pretenses constitutes participation in the forgery, as long as the individual knows the truth about their lineage.
