Kuwaiti Military Team’s Victorious Stint in Doha Championship

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 8: The Kuwaiti military shooting team clinched a silver medal in the “skeet” category and a bronze medal in the “skeet” category after the inaugural Arab Military Championship for shotgun weapons (skeet) held in Doha, Qatar, hosted by Qatar Airways. Shooter Dhari Al-Azmi also secured a silver medal in the individual skeet category during the Arab Championship, which spanned from last Sunday to its culmination this evening.

Brigadier General Khalil Al-Kandari, the head of the mission and Director of the Military Sports Federation, revealed that seven countries participated in the tournament. The Kuwaiti military team’s notable achievements included two silver medals, one in the team category for the “trap” game and another in the individual category for “skeet.” Additionally, they secured a bronze in the trap game. Shooter Jaber Al-Baghili narrowly missed claiming the top spot in the trap game, securing a commendable fourth place.

Highlighting the team’s preparations, Brigadier General Al-Kandari mentioned that the military shooting team conducted a week-long training camp before the tournament, significantly contributing to their success in the Arab Championship. The shooters’ efforts resulted in three medals, proudly displaying the Kuwaiti flag on the winners’ podium.

Brigadier General Al-Kandari commended the exemplary organization of the first Arab cartridge championship and extended gratitude to the organizers in Qatar for their tremendous efforts in ensuring the tournament’s success.

The winning team in the “skeet” category comprised Khaled Al-Mutayri, Muhammad Al-Daihani, and Dhari Al-Azmi, while the triumphant team in the “dirt” category included Saad Al-Mutairi, Abdulaziz Al-Taweel, and Jaber Al-Bughili. The delegation, led by Brigadier Al-Kandari, also included team manager Colonel Abdulaziz Al-Mawli.

The tournament, attended by seven military teams from various Arab countries, commenced last Sunday at the shooting range complex in Lusail, Qatar.
