KUWAIT CITY, Mar 7 : The Kuwait Armed Forces said its air defense systems successfully intercepted a wave of hostile drones that entered the country’s airspace early Saturday, with only minor material damage reported.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Defense, official spokesman Saud Abdulaziz Al‑Otaibi said air defense units responded to multiple drones detected in the northern and southern regions of the country since dawn on March 7, 2026.
According to the statement, Kuwaiti air defenses dealt with seven drones, preventing them from causing significant damage. Authorities said the incidents resulted only in material damage from falling shrapnel after the interceptions.
The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Army said the explosion sounds heard in various areas across the country were caused by air defense systems intercepting ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones.
Officials urged citizens and residents to follow security and safety instructions issued by the relevant authorities during the heightened alert.
The Kuwaiti Armed Forces emphasized that they remain on high alert and full readiness to confront any threats targeting the nation’s security, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding Kuwait’s sovereignty, stability, and national interests.
