Kuwaiti jailed five years for beating wife to death

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 3: The Criminal Court on Monday sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to five years in prison with hard labor for murdering his Syrian wife. The man was found guilty of severely beating his wife and was extradited to Kuwait by Iraqi authorities. The Public Prosecution initially charged the defendant with premeditated murder after he fled to Iraq following the crime. However, after reviewing the case, the court established that there was no intent to kill, so it changed the charge to manslaughter.

Case details revealed that the defendant assaulted his wife in their home, causing injuries that led to her death. The defendant then fled to Iraq, where he was apprehended and extradited to Kuwait based on an extradition warrant issued by the General Directorate of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Interior.
